Video Transcript for Review of Rear View Safety Backup Camera - RV Third Brake Light with Camera - RVS47FR

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Rear View Safety Third Brake Light with camera. This is going to replace the third brake light housing on your RV, just take off the original lens and housing, pop out the lights, the light bar here, and plug it in to this one, that will then re-complete that, so that you'll have your functioning third brake light again, but then, you'll also have your backup camera to give you a better sense of what's behind you as you're backing up and that sort of thing. This is right about 13 1/2 inches in overall length, or width, depending on how you look at it, from center of our mounting hole to the center of the other, it's right about 12 inches, and it's only about 1 3/8 of an inch tall, kinda difficult for me to show you that with my ruler here, but will plug right in, do a great job of re-completing that third brake light, so you still have that functioning brake light going. But then, you'll also have your camera here, so this is a 170 degree viewing angle camera, so you're gonna have a nice wide view of what's behind you. It does also have a built-in microphone, so you'll be able to hear what's going on behind you as well, so if someone's back there giving you directions or all of a sudden someone's screaming for you to stop, you'll be able to hear that through the microphone.

Does also have these six infrared illuminators that are going to help provide night vision up to 35 feet, so if you are getting into the campsite late at night, when it's dark out, having that night vision is gonna help make sure that you're backing up to the slot or your spot correctly. This is a IP68 rated camera, so it is going to help keep out dirt and moisture, make sure it's gonna be a nice long-lasting performance for you. They do have the 5-pin connection on the back of the camera, then they include a 65 foot long wire to run from your camera at the back of your RV up to the front, so that you can get it plugged in to your monitor, unwrap that accordingly, they want you get up to the front very easy to plug this in like so, get that twisted in. Then you've got these red, yellow, and white connectors, the red one is actually your power, so you'll plug it into this adapter, get that wired in place, and then your yellow is your video, your white is your audio, so that you can make sure that you're aware of what's going on behind you, so very easy to then get that plugged into a monitor. Monitor is not included, this is just the camera kit, but very easy to plug in to any monitor that accepts that red, yellow RCA type plug.

They do include this foam gasket with the 3M packing tape to get this installed, very simple to get that peeled off that tape, put it in place, and you'll reuse the original hardware that you removed from your third brake light as you're getting that installed, and then this is just gonna ensure a nice seal there, so that you don't have to worry about water getting in back behind there causing issues. So overall, a really nice system if you are looking for that integrated look into your third brake light, so that you can add that camera without having a too gaudy or obvious of a camera installation there, having it integrated is gonna make it look really nice for you. This is going to comply with all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, so you can trust it is gonna do a good job, you're gonna be safe using this on your RV. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com, thanks for watching..
